iOS 26 beta 6: iPhones get much faster
With this new beta version of iOS 26, Apple is moving much faster, and that changes everything.
Apple has just released the sixth beta of iOS 26. With just a few weeks to go before the unveiling of the new iPhone 17 and its release to the general public, Apple's software update is getting a major boost. Apps open much faster than on older versions of iOS.
Very fast applications
While app content doesn't necessarily load faster, Apple has significantly shortened the time between the user tapping an app icon and the app opening. The Cupertino company has not yet provided any explanation for the origin or motivations behind this change.
It's also unclear whether this new app opening speed on iPhones will become the standard when iOS 26 is released to the general public in September. The presence of this new feature, which was unexpected to say the least, certainly helps revive interest in beta versions.
How to install a beta version on your iPhone?
While we still don't recommend using them on your iPhone every day (they contain far too many bugs), it might be worth installing them for a few hours. Just enough time to test this feature with your own eyes. If you've already installed the 6th beta of iOS 26, please share your feedback with us in the comments.
Remember to return to a more stable version of iOS once your little experiment is over. For the more patient, iOS 26 should be available in its first stable version during the month of September.
The iPhone 17 launch conference will likely take place on Tuesday, September 9. Apple should therefore use this keynote to announce a release date for iOS 26.
