AirPods Pro 2: France still blocks the hearing aid function

Hearing health features are coming to several countries, but not to France.

Apple launched its AirPods 4 with and without active noise cancellation late last year. The AirPods Pro 3, highly anticipated by demanding consumers, never showed up. The Apple brand preferred to update its AirPods Pro 2 , now capable of transforming into a hearing aid. The problem is that the hearing health features are still not available in France. Unfortunately, the update released by Apple on July 15th doesn't change anything.

AirPods Pro 2 hearing health features are coming to several new countries, but not France

Tim Cook himself announced on his X account that the AirPods Pro 2's hearing health test and hearing health features are now available in several new countries, including Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Serbia. As you may have guessed, France is not among the affected territories.

On its official website, Apple points out that " the Hearing Test and Hearing Aid features are regulated health features that require authorization and will be offered once authorization is received  ." Apparently, Apple has not yet reached an agreement with French health authorities to deploy these innovations in France.

The AirPods Pro 2 Hearing Test lets you know if you have mild or moderate hearing loss. "  After taking the test, you'll see a personalized profile with clear results and easy-to-interpret conclusions about your hearing  ." The wireless earbuds then allow for clinical-grade hearing aid functionality for hearing loss perceived as mild to moderate. Now, we just have to hope these innovations arrive in France.
